In recent years we watched regularly representatives “new politics”, to investigate whether there was also of right-wing extremists who joined this. We watched Liveable Netherlands, LPF and various factions that tore from them. It is therefore interesting to see how it is now with. The municipal elections offer there interesting opportunities for. There is dozens of new faces on the electoral lists or supporting. Stand between people who again were previously active in extreme right-wing parties?
Given the multitude of lists this study is not yet complete, but there are already some interesting findings emerged from. Liveable Netherlands overarching national party no longer exists, but the LPF or. This party is not the extreme right, but by her firm views on immigration, integration, crime and politics still frequently a particular attraction (ex-) right-wing extremists.
Nationwide?
If you look at these local elections to the participation of the LPF, it soon becomes clear that there is actually no question of a nationally operating party. The other parties in the House have been well represented. Even a small party like the SGP does in more than one hundred municipalities with. But the LPF put a disappointing 11 participations down. Here are important cities like Leeuwarden, Hilversum, Delft, Eindhoven and The Hague in. Medium-sized municipalities as Spijkenisse, Westland and Barneveld. But even small ones like the Frisian Boarnsterhim, Gelderland Pigeons and Zeewolde in Flevoland to rejoice with the participation of the LPF to their elections. Apparently, the LPF has much less support from the bottom up than the other parties. Also, they are so lacks the advantages of a broad party with a lot of board members. Talent from the municipalities does not flow through to national politics, and information at the local level plans or abuses flowing through the party structures not upwards. It is also remarkable that in these elections more sister parties and splinter groups of the LPF join, than real divisions that still carry the party name.
The participation
But first the LPF itself. In the municipalities of Barneveld and Pigeons are some notable figures candidate. The leader in Barneveld Henk Schattenberg (1951). In 1995 he supported the Centre Democrats (CD) yet at their election participation in Gelderland. Schattenberg is also the 5th LPF candidate in Pigeons. Conversely, the party leader Anton Duiven Reebergen (1954) candidate number 5 Barneveld.
Reebergen early eighties was a board member of the right-wing Roman Catholic Party of the Netherlands and also stood as a candidate in the parliamentary elections. Weirder it gets when in the nineties a note with his name and address and the note “intelligence” is found in the records of Arnhem CP'86 activist Constant Kusters. Reebergen lives than themselves still in Arnhem, but it is uncertain whether they have actually had contact with each other. Another notable candidate in Barneveld Piet Storm (1934) from Voorthuizen. He stood in 1995 candidate for the CD at the same election who supported Schattenberg with his signature in Gelderland. In a letter to an antifascist action group 1998 Storm explains to find the CD no objectionable party, but he has terminated his membership because of his dislike of Janmaat. He writes that he “Siberisch” shows that he is seen as a fascist, because he would hate “demagogue, Communists and Fascists” hebben. His wife G. Storm Versteeg supported both CD 1995, Now if the LPF with her signature in the elections.
Hague
The leader of the LPF in The Hague Willem van der Velden (1942). He was in 2002 short time MP for the LPF. Eindhoven
In Eindhoven, there are also some controversial people on the LPF list. Especially the French Machiels (1938) in second place is falling on. Schoonbeek was in 1995 stepped out of the CD and gives his dissatisfaction with the participation of the CD to the annual Yzerbedevaart in Flanders for this reason. Schoonbeek is in 1998 not yet out of the national right-wing politics. He is the same year seen at the founding congress of the NNP. In 2000 he dives even at a meeting of Dutch Blok. Regional top candidate of the LPF Eindhoven Alexander van Hattem (1983). He is four years very active in the Young Fortuynisten and currently the chairman of this semi-rural youth organization of the LPF. But occasionally makes to Van Hattem foreign trips. Amsterdam
In Amsterdam fight several former Fortuynisten together on stage. Some have united under the name Fortuynist Peasants Party / Party Elderly North Holland. Strength
Haarlemmermeer is the basis for the LPF afspliting Forza Netherlands, which further also participates in the Brabant Heusden. Most notable is the support Jan Ossewaarde (1928) Badhoevedorp to give the party. He puts his signature support in Haarlemmermeer. Ossewaarde is locally famous for its extreme right letters. Heiloo
In the North Holland town of Heiloo does former LPF'er Wladimir Kiel (1950) note under the name LN Heiloo. When the supporters are some people who formerly supported the LPF. Nawijn
Zoetermeer does the ex-LPF minister Hilbrand Nawijn with its own list with. Rotterdam
The great city of Fortuynism of course Rotterdam. Liveable Rotterdam (LR) does in all district councils, and the LPF has not dared himself to submit a list in the port city. However, state LPF parliamentarian Joost Eerdmans as Lijstduwer the LR list. A number of people, that initially the LPF department Rotterdam wanted to start, is still now at Livable. Another group of former LR councilors, the party Rotterdam Transparent (RT) founded and now do under that name with the city and one district council. RT Captain Joop Heijgen joined initially met with the New Right and the Vlaams Blok in 2003 several times. He must 2004 still a considerable amount expenses reimbursed to the municipality, because he can not justify. Siemon also Sjef was councilor of LR and now sits at Rotterdam Transparent. He belonged to the extreme right wing of LR and also visited the Vlaams Belang.
Councillors
South of Rotterdam is Zwijndrecht. Here are the elected councilors LPF now as General Interest Zwijndrecht active, and now again a candidate in the elections under the new name. In Eindhoven, the LPF competition from a new party which have a councilor of Livable Eindhoven and a former VVD council seat. Tilburg
Hans Smolders from Tilburg was MP for the LPF and helped in the capture of Volkert van der G. After the murder of Pim Fortuyn. After some wandering along some small parties he does with his own list them in Tilburg. He will be given the support of some ex-LPF'ers, but as Nawijn also a former CD'er on his list. It is Markus Klijsen (1967) from Tilburg in the 1995 candidate stood for the CD at the Brabant States Elections. He was at that time also a board member of the circle Tilburg CD. Klijsen is now the sixteenth place of the list Smolders Tilburg. Both the CD list where Klijsen in 1995 stood at, as the list of Smolders who now participates in Tilburg are supported by Miriam Elling possibly the partner's Klijsen.
List Smolders has Tilburg incidentally competition from Tilburger Interest, that is shot from the LPF. Including the States member of the LPF in Brabant as Lijstduwer on this list.
Kobus Kortmann
