Nieuwe Politiek?

In recent years we watched regularly representatives “new politics”, to investigate whether there was also of right-wing extremists who joined this. We watched Liveable Netherlands, LPF and various factions that tore from them. It is therefore interesting to see how it is now with. The municipal elections offer there interesting opportunities for. There is dozens of new faces on the electoral lists or supporting. Stand between people who again were previously active in extreme right-wing parties?

Given the multitude of lists this study is not yet complete, but there are already some interesting findings emerged from. Liveable Netherlands overarching national party no longer exists, but the LPF or. This party is not the extreme right, but by her firm views on immigration, integration, crime and politics still frequently a particular attraction (ex-) right-wing extremists.

Nationwide?
If you look at these local elections to the participation of the LPF, it soon becomes clear that there is actually no question of a nationally operating party. The other parties in the House have been well represented. Even a small party like the SGP does in more than one hundred municipalities with. But the LPF put a disappointing 11 participations down. Here are important cities like Leeuwarden, Hilversum, Delft, Eindhoven and The Hague in. Medium-sized municipalities as Spijkenisse, Westland and Barneveld. But even small ones like the Frisian Boarnsterhim, Gelderland Pigeons and Zeewolde in Flevoland to rejoice with the participation of the LPF to their elections. Apparently, the LPF has much less support from the bottom up than the other parties. Also, they are so lacks the advantages of a broad party with a lot of board members. Talent from the municipalities does not flow through to national politics, and information at the local level plans or abuses flowing through the party structures not upwards. It is also remarkable that in these elections more sister parties and splinter groups of the LPF join, than real divisions that still carry the party name.

The participation
But first the LPF itself. In the municipalities of Barneveld and Pigeons are some notable figures candidate. The leader in Barneveld Henk Schattenberg (1951). In 1995 he supported the Centre Democrats (CD) yet at their election participation in Gelderland. Schattenberg is also the 5th LPF candidate in Pigeons. Conversely, the party leader Anton Duiven Reebergen (1954) candidate number 5 Barneveld.

Anton Reebergen

Reebergen early eighties was a board member of the right-wing Roman Catholic Party of the Netherlands and also stood as a candidate in the parliamentary elections. Weirder it gets when in the nineties a note with his name and address and the note “intelligence” is found in the records of Arnhem CP'86 activist Constant Kusters. Reebergen lives than themselves still in Arnhem, but it is uncertain whether they have actually had contact with each other. Another notable candidate in Barneveld Piet Storm (1934) from Voorthuizen. He stood in 1995 candidate for the CD at the same election who supported Schattenberg with his signature in Gelderland. In a letter to an antifascist action group 1998 Storm explains to find the CD no objectionable party, but he has terminated his membership because of his dislike of Janmaat. He writes that he “Siberisch” shows that he is seen as a fascist, because he would hate “demagogue, Communists and Fascists” hebben. His wife G. Storm Versteeg supported both CD 1995, Now if the LPF with her signature in the elections.

Hague
The leader of the LPF in The Hague Willem van der Velden (1942). He was in 2002 short time MP for the LPF. Before that, he was president of the car lot Netherlands Mobile, which he would have taken the membership records to the LPF. In the short period of its Board membership, he was advised by the controversial Rien Boiten (1956). Boiten was in the eighties prominently active in the Centre Party (CP) and was so in 2001 even disbarred by Liveable Netherlands and Netherlands Mobile. Van der Velden takes to be unveiled for Boiten as his right-wing past. The past year was Van der Velden actively Liveable Rotterdam, but now he is going to live in The Hague is a new step in his career.

Eindhoven
In Eindhoven, there are also some controversial people on the LPF list. Especially the French Machiels (1938) in second place is falling on. Mid nineties creates a disturbance around him as he fights with the neighborhood council fraction where he is in. Who saw his adviser for the Eindhoven CD fraction does not sit as. If this CD fraction later transforms to Burger Importance Eindhoven Region, this also closes Machiels on as spokesman and board member. In 1998 He was even the leader of this party. And Machiels does end 2001 an attempt to get through Liveable Netherlands Pim Fortuyn on the candidate for the House, but that fails him.

Submitted message in French Machiels Telegraph

The Eindhoven leader of the CD from 1994 called Willy Schoonbeek (1939) and he was the founder of Citizen Interest Eindhoven region and this in 1998 also candidate. Schoonbeek was in 1995 stepped out of the CD and gives his dissatisfaction with the participation of the CD to the annual Yzerbedevaart in Flanders for this reason. Schoonbeek is in 1998 not yet out of the national right-wing politics. He is the same year seen at the founding congress of the NNP. In 2000 he dives even at a meeting of Dutch Blok. Remarkably so that Schoonbeek now his signature move for the LPF participation in Eindhoven.

Various other handtekeningzetters prove the same transition as Machiels and Schoonbeek to have made, Burger Importance to LPF. But it is also one of the candidates along with them. This is Alex Versteegh (1958) Eindhoven.

Regional top candidate of the LPF Eindhoven Alexander van Hattem (1983). He is four years very active in the Young Fortuynisten and currently the chairman of this semi-rural youth organization of the LPF. But occasionally makes to Van Hattem foreign trips. As opposed to Fascism in August 2004 keep a folder action against radical National Alliance in Eindhoven, Van Hattem is secretly put these people in the picture. He also speaks in May 2004 a meeting of the LPF in Almelo matter where the right-wing extremist Alfred Vierling (1949) speaks. And for anyone who is not strong enough does Alexander van Hattem in April 2003 itself with an action of the New Right in Tilburg. The current leader of the New Right in Eindhoven, Rene van Gool, who organized action when as support to a jeweler who shot a robber.

Alfred Vierling (rechts) talks in collecting on a New Right demonstration in The Hague in January 2004 Wim Elst Wood, former member of parliament from the CD

Related parties
At various places in the country's parties do it with people who were also active in the LPF.

In Enschede a new party Civic Representation Enschede (BVE) Founded. Lijstrekker Theo de Boer (1948) was in 2004 the chairman of the LPF in Overijssel and then visited the same LPF meeting in Almelo mentioned above, So with Centre Party veteran Alfred Vierling as speaker. And three other BVE candidates are from the LPF. Also at Gemeentebelangen from Putten are many LPF'ers candidate.

OUR
Flevoland, the provincial LPF joined the party ONS Netherlands and participates as US Northeast and US Zeewolde. Spicy in Zeewolde that the LPF is still playing itself as a competitor. This same situation occurs in The Hague The Hague where US competes with the LPF. One of the Hague US candidates Stefan Goch (1969). Who was in 1998 still a candidate for the CD in Zoetermeer, and he supported Janmaat party in the elections of that year with a signature.

Amsterdam
In Amsterdam fight several former Fortuynisten together on stage. Some have united under the name Fortuynist Peasants Party / Party Elderly North Holland. Of course there is the flamboyant leader of the car lot Mokum Mobile, Gonny of Oudenallen (1957) that at the parliamentary elections in 2003 was a candidate for the LPF. Remarkably, they also now supports Transparent newcomer Amsterdam with a signature. While Van Oudenallen so pull list star of the competitor. This Amsterdam Transparency is a sister party of Rotterdam Transparent arising out Liveable Rotterdam. To make the circus in Amsterdam complete do father and son Henk Bakker of course along with their Livable Amsterdam '92. They also had the last few years courtships with the LPF.

Strength
Haarlemmermeer is the basis for the LPF afspliting Forza Netherlands, which further also participates in the Brabant Heusden. Most notable is the support Jan Ossewaarde (1928) Badhoevedorp to give the party. He puts his signature support in Haarlemmermeer. Ossewaarde is locally famous for its extreme right letters. But also nationally and on the Internet, he can be in this area a good show.

Heiloo
In the North Holland town of Heiloo does former LPF'er Wladimir Kiel (1950) note under the name LN Heiloo. When the supporters are some people who formerly supported the LPF. Wladimir van As was in 2002 active in the North Holland Department of the LPF. He falls for years by his indiscriminate missives on the Internet and in the letters to the editor sections.

Nawijn
Zoetermeer does the ex-LPF minister Hilbrand Nawijn with its own list with. Nawijn fell last year mainly by his warm relationship with Vlaams Belang leader Filip de Winter, with whom he made a study trip to Denmark and wanted to establish a think tank. Nawijn had even managed to receive this Flemish right-wing extremist in the house of the late Pim Fortuyn. Something he was not appreciated by the other MPs of the LPF. He now is a group of one in the House. On the seventh place of the list Hilbrand Nawijn state Sander Driessen (1942) from Zoetermeer. He stood in 1994 candidate for the CD Janmaat in Zoetermeer, but then was not elected, despite his second place. Obviously attracts Nawijns political behavior of people with such a past. Another LPF prominently on his Zoetermeerse list is former Secretary of State Jan Odink.

Rotterdam
The great city of Fortuynism of course Rotterdam. Liveable Rotterdam (LR) does in all district councils, and the LPF has not dared himself to submit a list in the port city. However, state LPF parliamentarian Joost Eerdmans as Lijstduwer the LR list. A number of people, that initially the LPF department Rotterdam wanted to start, is still now at Livable. Why do some extreme right-wing parties in Rotterdam with, including the New Right. Leader of the New Right is Michiel Smit. He was in 2002 yet councilor of Liveable Rotterdam, but over time it became clear that he was far more radical, than the other councilors. He could pack his bags, but remained councilor with a new party. Other Liveable Rotterdam candidates did have courtships with extreme right. As a delegation of them in January a meeting of the Vlaams Belang in Antwerp. Michiel Smit and Hilbrand Nawijn were present. Various LR candidates were involved in the Conservatieven.nl in January 2003 participated in the parliamentary elections, and where many extreme right was meddling with it. But despite that and the strong views are regularly taken there by Liveable Rotterdam, yet we see them not as a far-right party.

Another group of former LR councilors, the party Rotterdam Transparent (RT) founded and now do under that name with the city and one district council. RT Captain Joop Heijgen joined initially met with the New Right and the Vlaams Blok in 2003 several times. He must 2004 still a considerable amount expenses reimbursed to the municipality, because he can not justify. Siemon also Sjef was councilor of LR and now sits at Rotterdam Transparent. He belonged to the extreme right wing of LR and also visited the Vlaams Belang.

Councillors
South of Rotterdam is Zwijndrecht. Here are the elected councilors LPF now as General Interest Zwijndrecht active, and now again a candidate in the elections under the new name. The same is also the case in Terneuzen LPF councilor Cees Freeke with a new party name (List Cees Freeke Terneuzen) it does. Various LPF'ers follow his move.

Eindhoven
In Eindhoven, the LPF competition from a new party which have a councilor of Livable Eindhoven and a former VVD council seat. The leader of the Liberal Eindhoven baptized initiative Paul Verhaegh (1962). He is beginning to 2004 the right wing of the Liberal Party in the council. Verhaegh step out of the VVD and find them in Eindhoven too left-liberal. He gives his seat, however, not, and continues to sit as an independent councilor. In november 2004 He rebukes the leader of the Green Eindhoven for “Godvervloekte Green Left hypocrite, you are!!!”, because who wants to commemorate Theo Van Gogh was murdered after that. “Themes such as freedom of expression and the security of the rule of law are not part of the Green home. Green Left has always demonized Fortuyn and the Group is against preventive searches“, Verhaegh said in a note. He should apologize and number of fractions indicates the "wildly banging councilor’ henceforth ignore.

Ronald Flying (midden)

He has found a companion in Ronald Flying (1984) on the fourth place of Liberal Eindhoven state. Flying since 2003 active in the LPF and the Young Fortuynisten (JF). Another youth organization, the extreme right-wing New National Youth (NNJ) the NNP, implies 2003 a folder action in Eindhoven, and is then picked up by the police. Ronald Flies On behalf JF Eindhoven a solidarity statement in which he claims to be outraged about their arrest. He does not understand how they might offend people by distributing pamphlets with texts like “Stop the Islamisation of the Netherlands” en “Eigen volk eerst”. He also believes that the NNJ can count on much sympathy from passing youth. In May 2005 Flying is Ronald therefore self streets. With a group of right-wing activists Protest Warrior Find them on a leftist demonstration in Amsterdam to lure them with provocative signs from the tent. The police must intervene to remove the group and avoid a confrontation. Ronald Flying is the national secretary of the Young Fortuynisten.

Breda
Liveable Netherlands Breda and US are each other competitor in Breda. The Livable section of this East Brabant city also has a number of ex-LPF'ers.

Tilburg
Hans Smolders from Tilburg was MP for the LPF and helped in the capture of Volkert van der G. After the murder of Pim Fortuyn. After some wandering along some small parties he does with his own list them in Tilburg. He will be given the support of some ex-LPF'ers, but as Nawijn also a former CD'er on his list. It is Markus Klijsen (1967) from Tilburg in the 1995 candidate stood for the CD at the Brabant States Elections. He was at that time also a board member of the circle Tilburg CD. Klijsen is now the sixteenth place of the list Smolders Tilburg. Both the CD list where Klijsen in 1995 stood at, as the list of Smolders who now participates in Tilburg are supported by Miriam Elling possibly the partner's Klijsen.
List Smolders has Tilburg incidentally competition from Tilburger Interest, that is shot from the LPF. Including the States member of the LPF in Brabant as Lijstduwer on this list.

Kobus Kortmann
Just place on the 14th of the VVD list he. In his hometown Helmond. The 69-year-old Kobus Kortmann (J.A.W.M.J., 1936). A colorful figure who has such 30 year is active in several clubs. So he signed in 1975 a congratulatory list to congratulate the Flemish fascist organization Were-Di with her twenty-year anniversary. He was also in those years the president of the Club 25. In the same year he made some attempts rejected the party names “New Right” en “right alliance” be registered with the Electoral Council.

Twenty years later, in 2002, His name pops up suddenly at the Pim Fortuyn List. He supports the party in the general election and doing some futile throw to senior levels within the LPF. Kortmann was President-elect and also saw what a State Secretariat. Eventually he must content himself with a place in the provincial administration: In juli 2002 He is secretary of the association LPF- Brabant / Fortuyn Truly Brabant. He has difficulty with the breakup of the LPF, but supported beginning 2003 yet one of its offshoots (AVD) in the parliamentary elections. And now he has apparently found shelter with a more established party, VVD.

Maastricht
Then in the south arrived we see in the new game of Maastricht Us Mestreech join Pierre Seeverens (1943) as party leader. He was a member of the Limburg Provincial Council on behalf of the LPF, but is now on behalf of “Limburg Interest” in that governing body. Some former LPF'ers have gone with him to his new party.

Kortom
It's not so good with the Fortuyn Flow, all kinds of people have left the LPF and join other names in the municipal elections, sometimes as a competitor. Several right-wing extremists on the lists and nationwide participation is minimal.
