Wim Elsthout, the Crown Prince of Janmaat, has been running for quite a while in the CD. Occasionally he featured in the 'flashy’ verkiezingsspotjes en in december 1997 he is the third member of each CD after Cor Zonneveld deceased. Behind the scenes, he is very active for the CD. He sits on the Board and has set the flourishing Haarlem circle.

William Wood on Elst 6 juni 1963 born in Eindhoven. His school career was very successful and he obtained no diploma. Al in 1980 the seventeen year old Wim member of the then only just established Centre Party (CP) and almost immediately active. So he is in 1983 Rotterdam signaled by distributing leaflets.
January 1984 he was appointed treasurer of the CP-circle Haarlem. One month later, he visits a board meeting of the CP youth club, Young Beggars, and he is also a board member of this.
In 1984 Rip the CP and founded the CD. Elst Wood sides with the CP. Op 29 maart 1986 he attended a glue attempt of the CD and CP in Kedichem, which is disrupted by anti-fascists. The glue failed attempt. In the same year begin his attempts to be elected as member of parliament; he becomes leader for the CP in the municipal elections in Haarlem. He is not elected and joins the Centre Democrats (CD) Hans Janmaat.
Dog poo
In 1987 Elst Wood gets national recognition. Op 4 June, he scares the readers of the Haarlem Dagblad with a letter in which he complains about the dog license. He says to be afraid herein that the proceeds of this tax reaches antifascists, and suggests Turks and Moroccans to clean up the dog poop leave because they have come here after all the dirty work. After some wrangling with justice he will be sentenced to 500 guilder damages to a Turkish Foundation and two weeks suspended prison sentence. Elst Wood involves using the notorious far-right attorney. L. van Heijningen appeal and cassation, but the sentence remains unchanged up to the Supreme Court.
In 1987 Elst Wood is Chairman of the circle and in Haarlem 1988 chairman of a merger committee of the CD. In april 1988 He is the leader of a CD delegation is delegated to an international conference in France of the youth organization of the National Front of Le Pen. Quite opposite Netherlands he says: "Le Pen said there, fantastic!’. Op 21 maart 1989 Elst Wood is treasurer official member of the national board and CD's from then very regular speaker at conferences and meetings of his party.
Meanwhile Elst Wood makes a bid for a seat in both the Provincial (1987), if the House (1989), as the European Parliament (1989). However, all without success. Elst Wood however does not give up: in 1990 he will be chosen in the Haarlem council, and a year later in the Provincial Council of North Holland. In both organs, he has, after reelection, still sitting. Due to the recent election debacle he will soon leave the Haarlem council.
About 1989 he is approached by Richard van der Plas to be a member of the Action Front National Socialists (ANS). Elst Wood refuses because that his political career may well harm. However, he does a good word in for Janmaat Van der Plas. Van der Plas is a candidate for the CD in Purmerend and from there 1990 tot 1998 Councillor for this party.
Ideas

Elst Wood is generally a little sheepish about. He is, however, not at all. He is for example a member of the shooting club dominated by CD'ers “Smooth” Amsterdam North. Other famous visitors of this club include skinhead Nico Bodemeijer (Killer Kerwin Duijnmeijer) in oud SS'er Carl Lemoine.. Moreover Elst Wood is an outspoken racist. So he says in interviews include: “Stop the alien power”, “We are really not keen on young criminals from the Antilles and Morocco”, “Haarlem Haarlem houses preserved for house hunters” en “everyone back to their country of origin”. Also about the future of the Netherlands is clearly Elst Wood. He expected shortly race riots due to the multi-cultural policy of the Government.
Elst Wood represented the CD 1992 at the monthly meetings with the Vlaams Blok and the CP'86, and participates in discussions with other right-wing parties to see whether a partnership or merger is possible.
Harlem
Wim Elst Wood is there with his Haarlem sympathizers managed to put on some reasonably well-functioning circuit CD. Under this circle is very Kennemerland, with nuclei in Haarlem, Velsen and Beverwijk, but also the municipalities Amstelveen, Haarlemmermeer and Hilversum. It has its own circle sheet in content much more than the national CD-leaf represents and will meet regularly in the office of the provincial CD Group. Also from the Haarlem circle recently the youth organization of the CD successfully revived. Elst Wood has here as a great man behind the circle played an important role in. The CD youngsters last year mainly been in the news flyers actions around schools. Furthermore, managed to put the CD youth contacts with other far-right organizations, including Voorpost Netherlands. This is remarkable because the CD itself is very isolated within the extreme right.
In 1994 knew the CD in the circle Haarlem book quite a success by taking nine seats in various municipalities. Moreover, these seats were already actually occupied by the CD and remained that until the elections in 1998. Only Heemskerkse councilor John Gilles (the father of Elst Wood) stepped into the last period for health reasons. Despite all these representatives the CD little performed in the municipal. By absence and ignorance, but also because other councilors did not want to work with them, they have almost no influence on the municipal policy. None of these CD councilors in 1998 reelected.
Parliament
Elst Wood is now several months parliamentarian for his party, but it is highly unlikely that he will be able to retain this seat after the elections in May. His career as a member of parliament seems this peaked. To be faithful to Janmaat will not be the least: Elst Wood's mouth is known never been a cross word about the foreman and that you can not say all CD'ers.
supplement december 1998:
Elsthout is in mei 1998 Indeed, not re-elected as member of parliament. These few months chamber membership or make him a redundancy scheme of approximately 2,5 tons. In elections in March 1999 remains to be seen whether he can retain his seat in the Provincial Council of North Holland.
Despite a tiff between Janmaat and Elst Wood about the founding of the Conservative Democrats Elst Wood still loyal to the CD. Janmaat founded this shadow CD in August 1998 to continue the party after a possible ban.
