Outpost Netherlands

All of the Dutch action group Outpost celebrates its thirty-first birthday. In 1976 Outpost was founded in Flanders. It was a product of a troubled period in the Flemish nationalist movement. Moderates and radicals flew together in that period firmly in the hair. That produced a number of new far-right organizations, including a new game, het Vlaams Blok, and a new action group, Outpost.

Outpost pamphlet 2006

Outpost was from the beginning except Flemish nationalist expressly Heel-Dutch. This means that the organization fought for merging all Dutch language areas (Nederland, Flanders and French Flanders). Furthermore emphatic solidarity was expressed by the white minority regime in South Africa. The Heel-Dutch character was filled with a Dutch section, Founded in 1 January 1978. Since then, the Dutch department is always persist, though it was by now and then mostly on paper. There are in these thirty years is actually three distinct periods, each with its own character: 1978-1996, 1996-2004 en 2004-not.

1978-1996: Flemish inspiration

The first period had de Brabander and founder of Voorpost Netherlands Frie Verbrugge (1945) the strings majority owned. Together with his fellow board members Stan Beukelaar (1917, a dealer in Nazi propaganda) and NCE-member French Voermans (1932) he built the first outpost years. During this period, Outpost has been guided by the big brother from Flanders. The Flemish inspiration received in three different ways form: Through joint theme, Flemish development and imitation of the Dutch branch.

Frie Verbrugge on the IJzerwake in 2006

The common theme was the primary natural 'Dietse thought', the pursuit of "All-Netherlands'. But other issues were raised by both Outposts in the years: struggle against immigrants and left-wing politics, the support of like-minded people abroad (especially the white regime in South Africa) and rehabilitation of war criminals from World War II.
An attempt was made in the Netherlands, in imitation of their Flemish counterparts, stamping a serious action group from the ground. That proved due to lack of supporters is not possible without Flemish 'development aid'. When Outpost organized nothing in the Netherlands succeeded only if a glance Flemings was pulled open. That resulted in bizarre situations, For example, where an occupation in Amsterdam Outpost was conducted by a group of Flemish and one Dutchman.
The copying behavior of the Dutch branch was not only in the theme, but also in the form, if both Outpost Departments began in early nineties to about recruiting volunteers for a fascist Croat militia in the Yugoslav war. The Dutch also went, Inspired by the Flemish Iron Pilgrimage, also looking for a Dutch nationalist celebration. There was a number of years tried unsuccessfully to join a large group of the Frisian nationalist Warns Memorial. Outpost was however banned by the organization and antifascists there.

While outpost in Flanders favorably developed with a large number of members, controversial actions and close ties with the growing Vlaams Blok, the Dutch branch remained there to rear. That part was on the extreme right themes unpopular in Netherlands, but also to the opposition encountered by Outpost. The organization did not just regularly antifascists on its way, but also threatened to come quickly in the interest of justice. That was true at least for the board member Stan Beukelaar, die in 1982 was prosecuted for disseminating anti-Semitic material. Outpost tried to avert this danger by management (including the Beukelaar) to replace. After a brief stint with another Dutch government, The Dutch government was formally taken over by Flemish For Posters. In the background was Frie Verbrugge but actually Voorpost president, partly under his pseudonym "Show Vrijman".
The increasing pressure for Post in the Netherlands found itself increasingly forced to withdraw. Post-Netherlands went in that period orientate increasingly Flanders. Increasingly meetings in Flanders were visited, as an alternative to Dutch activities. The only two projects of any scale which Outpost early nineties of the floor trying to get, are the aforementioned recruitment practices for Croatia and visiting the commemoration Warns.

1996-2004 New right-wing impulses

In 1996 Outpost received a major boost in Netherlands. The reason was the collapse of the CP'86. After a period of internal strife and divisions got some of the CP'86 framework of the party and took Outpost in the Netherlands. Marcel Rüter was president and chief Tim Mudde action. The thunder in the CP'86 and the lack of success, This group had been convinced that there was no space in the Netherlands for a successful far-right party. To do to achieve success there were two paths being followed. On the one hand its own supporters to be taught, with dumb skinheads would make it never work. On the other hand had to be generated with high-profile actions of media attention and new supporters are obtained.

Marcel Rüter
Marcel Rueter

Marcel Rüter took education in itself. He started a program to guide the Voorpost supporters in the new right-wing ideology. That meant a big change for Outpost. The classic themes for Outpost (and the extreme right) were shelved and replaced by themes that were more accessible Outpost: Globalization (against US influence in Netherlands), animal and environmental surprised friend and foe.
Simultaneously Mudde again tried to ram an Outpost-action leg off the ground. He organized around the new theme actions: Folder actions against ritual slaughter, against the Americanization of the Netherlands, and the European Union.
Despite this fresh wind remains sappelen with Outpost. A real breakthrough will not and internal tensions provide for the departure of Mudde in 1999. The Outpost period after muddling for some time, but eventually dropped back quite in.

2004-2007 The youth wants action
It is waiting for a new impetus, die in 2004 comes with the arrival of Paul Peters as action director. Around the same time makes Marcel Rüter place for Robert Schaap as chairman. Both sheep and Peters then run for years within the extreme right in the Netherlands. Na de nieuwrechtse period van Rüter, they change Outpost in action organization that focuses primarily on embedding new young right-wing extremists. Paul Peters had earlier tried to face up "market" of extreme right-wing cronies to make his own via the action group Stormfront Netherlands and NNJ (youth organization of the NNP). That, however, was unsuccessful and both organizations Peters stepped slamming the door on. The third attempt, via Outpost, However, it seems more to bear fruit.

Robert Schaap

Peters and Schaap put several circles and actively look for groups of extreme right-boy. They do this in three ways that fit well with the young people obviously what they are looking for. First, they look for young people through all kinds of communication on the Internet. Of popular youth sites as PartyFlock to extreme right-wing forums like Stormfront and Holland Hardcore tries to interest Outpost Netherlands youths for their message and organization. Second Outpost is very active at the end and organizing get-togethers for right-wing extremists. This phenomenon, where far-right activists met to organize a pub somewhere in the country to meet its own supporters and potential new members, has in recent years taken a hefty flight. In particular, Paul Peters is a loyal visitor of such drinks. Thirdly, Outpost organizes actions for the rank and an interpretation of their ideas. And no more of those 'difficult' issues like under Tim Mudde, but simple: mosques, asylum seekers and antifascists.

Feast on Liberation Day, Zoetermeer

In 2005 Peters appears in this way, to obtain a fatty fish within. Through his brother, Danny Peters and Voorpost activist Sjors Remmerswaal he comes in contact with a group of young right-wing extremists in Zoetermeer. This group has already established a solid name in Zoetermeer by extreme right-wing propaganda actions, riots and assaults. Outpost seems to win the group successfully, including by keeping shorts. Peters then interferes personally (but under a false name) discussions with the municipality to get a room for a party on Liberation Day. He succeeds in his plan and the group may be in a municipal building, Decorated with Voorpost posters celebrating a birthday party. The party, however, has an openly Nazi character, Like the newly recruited group. The group quickly alienated from Outpost and radicalizes further to the current openly Nazi and violent Youth Storm Netherlands (JSN).
Besides this failed acquisition attempt knows outpost here and recruit the youth groups yet. Another group that is achieved within a group of extreme right-wing youths in Almere. Again, it is a group of former Lonsdale youth, which eventually ended up on the Internet and self-organization at Outpost. This group forms from 2006 Post-Flevoland. But this is something very wrong: the group appears next to the activities Outpost also be responsible for a series of arson in Almere and surroundings (see below this article 'Outpost put Almere on fire'). In augustus 2007 There are eleven people involved in court. Post-Netherlands to expel them if convicted and also denies promising that more than two people in this group have been members.

Paul Peters (midden, sitting) on 3 februari 2007 with Blood & Honour thugs arrested during a meeting of the extreme right NVB in Uitgeest. Shortly before the thugs attacked (without Peters) an anti-fascist demonstration.

All this leads to an interesting question: How come there in two years, two to Voorpost affiliated groups are developing such radical and violent. The response appears to lie in front of the hand: Outpost would be a neat organization for the stage, but in the background incite young people to violent acts. That would fit in the vein of Paul Peters. Die is immers, well dressed and ditto beaked, the prototype of a neat right-wing extremist. At the same time let his past (convicted of denigrating Jewish cemetery) and his present (regular calls for solidarity with imprisoned perpetrators of violence) a different picture.
On the other hand, this answer seems to be simple. It seems that Peter Schaap and perhaps have understanding for violent actions, but they also try the Voorpost supporters bring to it only on time but woe.
But if that is true, Why then, was the derailment of two Voorpost groups? The most likely option is that Outpost, by excited to get these types of groups within, the disaster's own doing. The youthful age, combined with radical ideology and violence derailed discussions on the Internet sure that such groups move easily on a violent path. As Sheep and Peters then facilitate these groups with ideological baggage, periodic meetings and a national network of right-wing extremists (waaronder veel (ex)abusers) seems to be the step to come closer to violence rather than decreasing. Or Peters and Schaap then itself give the final push is soon an irrelevant question.

Outpost put Almere on fire

In late August, there was a marked criminal case in Netherlands. A group of eleven right-wing extremist youth must take responsibility for a series of attacks in Almere. There was trying to set fire to a synagogue, a Muslim butcher, an Islamic school and a squat in Amsterdam. The group had stormed a squat in Almere and set on fire.

After this last action was one of the youngsters, Nick Painter, fleeing arrested by police. By placing a tap on his phone and his statements, knew the police quickly arrest the entire group. In the course of the investigation were also resolved the other issues. All the defendants submitted a confession. The file is thus around, there may still be some quibbling over details in the courtroom, but guilty judgment and firm punishments in line with expectations. Interestingly, however, it is to try to put the group into a slightly wider context.

This is a group of young people who come in part from extreme right-wing gabber circles. They learned together through youth circuits (celebrate, exit, school, Joint friends) know and shared a rudimentary extreme right-wing ideology. They were active in various internet forums, including Stormfront Forum. In 2005 The group called itself "Wake Almere and was also a leading figure surfaced: EdK. In februari 2006 EDK shows up at a demonstration in Amsterdam, as called for by Stormfront. He then comes into contact with the Utrecht group of right-wing extremists 'Platform Warrior' (DCP). Almere, the group decides to join and continue as the Almere department of PDK.
The new department will organize a couple of drinks and a barbecue. Further action against posters of immigrant parties organized. In oktober 2006 the group switches from the Warrior Platform for Outpost. Appearance seems nothing to change: there are mainly organized get-togethers, only from this point also nationwide Outpost leaders Paul Peters and Robert Schaap regularly present.

In the background, however, is changing some. In the same month that the group joins Outpost starts four core members (EdK, Anton Mostert (1986), Nick Painter (1987) MR) along with a neo Almere a series of arsons. The first time the group wants stabbing a mosque on fire. When the windows but appear well protected against attacks, they decide to move to a synagogue. A stone passes through a window pane, followed by two firebombs. Eventually, the fire goes before real fire breaks out. A week later, this recipe is repeated at an Islamic school. Again, the end does not come to a real fire. Another week later, the same group to a squat in Amsterdam-Noord. They see that there are people inside, but throw in a lozenge and two firebombs inside. Again, it is fortunately not a real fire, which could have had fatal consequences. Just before Christmas the same five go on the road again. They try to hit the window of an Islamic butcher shop in Almere with an ax. That failed, and also this time the fire bombs go off prematurely. After this attack remains the same quiet, to a group of young leftists creaks a building in Almere. EdK. do not have to think long about a comment. He mobilizes his supporters of Voorpost Flevoland. The group gathers and goes armed with clubs, ploertendoders, a gas pistol and two firebombs at the building. They invade, chase the squatters out, and one member of the group throws a firebomb. It seems likely that most of the other for prints in this case, was not informed of the plan to arson. This time the firebomb at least does work: the whole building burned to the ground off.

After their arrest, is told by many members of the police and later also in the courtroom there is much information out. Within the group had long been talk of a clear hierarchy. EDK was the undisputed leader, assisted by 'ideologist' Anton Mostert. Furthermore, the core of five was responsible for most of the attacks. They also visited rural actions. The other arrested were only involved in the attack on the squat in Almere, but not the other arson. It goes too far to dismiss them as thoughtless thereby hangers. They were almost all members or closely involved in Outpost. They visited the periodic get-togethers and participated in extreme right-wing activities in the country (demonstrations and meetings of other organizations).
One of those arrested, Robin Barendse, For example, presented himself to the police and the court, the injured innocent and cheated follower. He had gone on the express condition that it was a violent action, he suggested. The violence committed came to him like a bolt from the blue.
He wrote on Stormfront, however, the day after the attack and arson: 'Nice action! People who deliberately nuisance must also be removed. "Barendse has since 2004 active within the extreme right circuit. The fact that he wore a T-shirt in the courtroom 'Burzum' (a convicted arsonist, moordenaar en rechts-extremist) may not be less than a nod to the court have been.

The "hard core" of five was sentenced to sixteen months in prison and eight months suspended prison sentence. The other six defendants received sentences ranging from 200 community service hours to seven months in prison.

Het is, given the penalties for the hard core, unlikely that we will soon hear more of Almere for Posters. Whether it will remain so after their prison term however, the question is. DK. stated that it continued to the court on his ideas, but they want to give a different interpretation in the future. MR told the court that he is the 'drive' Hitler understands, he did "it" after all for his country. Only in implementing Hitler had gone too far.
