In the Provincial House of the Province of Zeeland Middelburg becomes the new PVV Staten Vincent Bosch from Poortvliet sworn. He follows Caroline Kooman from Sluiskil op, who leaves the Provincial Council for personal reasons.
A committee meeting of the municipality Sluis in Breskens about the arrival of an AZC. There are 750 people registered to attend and a large tent has been placed for this. Fifty people have registered as participants and an internet page is active under the motto ‘No to AZC Breskens'. Some residents have brought protest signs. Staten Caroline Kooman of the PVV Zeeland is a public speaker and she says: “There is already a shortage of social rented houses here, there is already a lack of work here, there is already a lack of money in healthcare here, there are too few police here to watch over our safety. We can't take it anymore! The borders must be closed!”. A majority of the city council is against a large AZC for five hundred asylum seekers.
In Terneuzen the municipality has organized a committee meeting on the arrival of 800 asylum seekers to Hoek. The meeting takes place in a tense atmosphere, almost all citizens and participants present are against the arrival. Some people fear that there are terrorists among the asylum seekers who will attack a chemical company or a nuclear power plant. The PVV-Staten Caroline Kooman likes a protest action with posters AZC-Alert waar “No AZC” by state. She is also a public speaker and states that “the asylum seekers do not come to the Netherlands for their safety, but for prosperity“. She speaks of “a tsunami of fortune seekers and calls for no asylum seekers Terneuzen and Zeeland.” A few days later, the municipality decides to 600 to receive asylum seekers.
