In Terneuzen the municipality has organized a committee meeting on the arrival of 800 asylum seekers to Hoek. The meeting takes place in a tense atmosphere, almost all citizens and participants present are against the arrival. Some people fear that there are terrorists among the asylum seekers who will attack a chemical company or a nuclear power plant. The PVV-Staten Caroline Kooman likes a protest action with posters AZC-Alert waar “No AZC” by state. She is also a public speaker and states that “the asylum seekers do not come to the Netherlands for their safety, but for prosperity“. She speaks of “a tsunami of fortune seekers and calls for no asylum seekers Terneuzen and Zeeland.” A few days later, the municipality decides to 600 to receive asylum seekers.
