When the Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard in 2005 made a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad with a bomb in his turban, he will undoubtedly have no idea what made this drawing would loosen. Let alone that he thought the cartoon would lead to the creation of a new right-wing extremist organization in the Netherlands.
In spring 2006 The Danish cartoons were already several months into the center of international interest: tumbling over each other convictions and supports, riots, attacks and demonstrations. The Dutch extreme right-wing National Alliance (NA) was a sharp conflict over these cartoons. In solidarity with the threatened cartoonists cartoons were published worldwide in newspapers and on the Internet. also wanted to respond to here some key executives of the National Alliance, but party leader Jan Teijn rebelled against, because he was afraid of having to bear the consequences. The active NA department of North Holland picked out this and left with the party secretary of the organization. The core of this group was formed by Wim Beaux, Gerard de Wit, Sound Steemers en Peter van Egmond.
This group afsplitsers decided then to set up a new organization. Op 6 May 2006 was in the North Holland Wormer the inaugural meeting of the Nationalist People's Movement (NVB) held. Wim Beaux was appointed chairman.

This Beaux began, active since the early eighties, his sixth-wing extremist organization. Earlier Beaux was involved in the Centre Party, of CP'86, de Volksnationalisten Nederland, de Nieuwe Nationale Partij, the National Alliance and now the Nationalist People's Movement.
Ideology
As regards ideology, NVB is a typical product of its founders. The main people walked along for years and all had the nineties and partially witnessed the eighties in the extreme right-wing activism. The repressive climate in relation to the extreme right in those years, ensured that in extreme right-wing organizations was a big difference between official positions and actual ideas. When right-wing extremists These would come fairly for their radical ideas would have cost them sympathy and possibly prosecution. Therefore, were often brought concealing ideas ("Full is full", "Death to Zionism" instead of "death to the Jews").
This legacy was the NVB rigged. That was immediately after the establishment already. It was quite gekoketteerd with NSB symbolism: The party logo, fight greeting ("Houzee!”), and the slogan "For Folk and Fatherland" party of the collaboration were taken. Despite the admiration of NVB-board for Mussert and NSB before hotbed, NVB opted in this case for the revealing line: "About our logo be some misunderstandings, often voiced by those who only look at a certain past and no knowledge have m.b.t. symbolism and historical knowledge. It is also an expression of simplicity to us by a compromise to press a certain angle. "Even in the formal distancing be careful not to use the word 'NSB'.
When you prick through this reflex verhulgedrag, can be characterized NVB ideology as a kind of bourgeois fascism. The main theme is that non-whites ("Here-not-home-hearing" according to chairman Beaux), especially Muslims, must leave the Netherlands. Besides merging with Flanders is a spearhead. Combined with the aforementioned NSB fixation gives a rough idea where the NVB stands. But only with words allows the organization not.
Violence
In the two and a half years of its existence has managed to pick up the NVB but occasionally the newspaper and that was mainly due to violent incidents.
But it all started quieter. The end of October 2006 NVB held its first meeting hall in Haarlem. A school was chartered, as usual false flag to prevent problems. Nevertheless demonstrated a group of Haarlem antifascists doorstep, to make clear who is really present in the building. That proved reason enough for the hall owner and the local authorities to ask the NVB to leave the room, what then happened.

A month later, the NVB organized a somewhat strange action. On a pass from a friendly organization (the Teutonic Brothers, see box) a demonstration was organized in Middelburg against the planned construction of a mosque. This while all decision-making and discussion had been completed around the building. Many sense the demonstration had not. Yet there were still turn up a few dozen participants.
Teutonic Brothers
Op 6 augustus 2006, exactly three months after the establishment of the NVB founded another group divisional NA members Zealand Dietse Comrades on. At the inaugural meeting, a delegation of the NVB present. NVB and Dietse Fellows are inseparable from that moment. They visit each other's meetings, said Dietse Fellows play often ushers in "brotherly movement" NVB. The Dietse Fellows ideas fit well with the NVB. And also provide the members of the Dietse Fellows for violent contributions to NVB meetings. Both the slugfest in Uitgeest, As with the riots at the NVB demonstration in Amsterdam Dietse Fellows were at the forefront.
Besides a number of NVB 'ers and a hefty club regional wing extremist youths, There was a surprisingly large number of members of Blood & Honour present. These Nazi skinheads joined the NVB – with still some old men / man-citizen image – was quite striking, but would later get a noticeable drop. In terms of ideology and style are the NVB ('Neat' some gray appearance, with an emphasis on elementary foreigner hatred) in Blood & Honour (tattooed skinheads with abusive and an outspoken admiration for Hitler and the Third Reich) not directly in line with each other. At the same time the extreme right scene is small and such differences are often bridged. Especially if you also happen live close together. And there was talk in this case. NVB summit lived largely in the southern part of North Holland and the leaders of Blood & Honour applicable at that time same: NVB-boss Peter van Egmond lived on 5 minutes of Blood & Honour leader Erik de Graaf. The lines were so short and apparently enough to find connection and keep.

After the turn of the year 2006/2007 NVB organized early February another meeting for its supporters. Blood also & Honour was asked to be present. This time not only to have more people on the floor, but also to have a pair of guys legged in order to avoid a situation such as when sitting in Haarlem. The meeting took place this time in a canteen in Uitgeest. This time there were anti-fascists protest. When they proceeded, however, near the building of the present members of Blood went & Honour and the Teutonic Brothers about to attack. Powered by NVB Board (in ex-sailor) Sound Steemers be the demonstrators bekogeld, kicked and beaten up came the riot police intervened. While some were wounded. Immediately afterwards, the police proceeded to arrest all members of the gang, who were found in the street. Furthermore, other suspects were from the violence, especially those with Blood & Attributes of Honour, removed from the canteen and arrested. Later, the members of this gang were sentenced to various prison sentences.

Curiously NVB distanced himself in any way from the overt presence of these neo-Nazis and violence at their meeting. Indeed, NVB presented them as heroes: "It wants the board of the N.V.B. spontaneous brave defenders of the hall to thank for their efforts. "Two weeks after this slugfest did party chairman Beaux additionally charges against AFA due to disruption of vergadering.Toch turned the whole affair NVB not be sitting in the cold clothes. It took over half a year before it was again put something on legs. But when it was organized by the party something special: A new demonstration, this time in Amsterdam. That would demonstrate the NVB to the temporary relocation of a war memorial for the construction of a mosque. However, that was a lot less straightforward than expected. The main reason was that classic Amsterdam is a difficult city for the extreme right to demonstrate given the strong opposition that exists against them. That applies in particular to Baarsjes, The neighborhood where the demonstration was planned. There was also a lot of discontent among fellow right-wing extremists. To protest against a mosque could count on sympathy, but now demonstrate for a monument to the resistance against the German occupier could not count on broad sympathy. NVU chairman Kusters described his concerns as follows: "NVB will honor the Dutch Resistance and Jewish war memorial! (...) It strange that there were two members of the NVB in the funeral march of the NSB widow Mrs. Rost of Tonningen, op 2 juni jl. in Rheden! Is it not true that Meinoud Rost van Tonningen is induced to suicide by the guards (BS-ers Interior Forces) comes from the Dutch resistance? And this board would try to make themselves suddenly hard for a resistance monument? In itself not very logical. "But the real problems were only on the day itself: around forty NVB 'ers gathered in a square in Amsterdam. But before they could walk, they were attacked by football hooligans and local residents. There by some NVB 'ers were still firmly beaten back with sticks brought flags, but to no avail. The demonstration because of the riots was banned by the Mayor. NVB blows the retreat on 22 september 2007 in Amsterdam. Martijn Janssen left from Rotterdam. Dietse Comrade Marcel Putter carrying a box
Two months after this deception would again demonstrate the NVB in Amsterdam. Now the Slotervaart district was chosen. The theme of the demonstration was the unrest in that area in the previous months. After consulting this site was banned and the NVB a manifestation place was offered outside the district. NVB refused this option and then blew off the demonstration.
Again it then remained quiet for the NVB. Then in February 2008 Gerard de Wit died suddenly, was another blow to the NVB in a short time. The White continued meetings and actions on legs, provided the site and took the membership records. He was short, the man who single-handedly formed the backbone of the NVB. After the arrests in Uitgeest and two failed demonstrations this also was the main organizer of the organization away.
Toekomst
Thus the future of the NVB end seemed. A planned meeting was canceled, the website and the magazine of the organization came almost to a standstill. Members were told nothing further plans. This situation was compounded by the remaining board members of the NVB by their long history in all kinds of extreme right-wing organizations and divestitures many enemies had been in the world. This was together with others not directly addressed. The organization seemed doomed.
Recently, however, the NVB yet again gave some signs of life. At a demonstration organized by the web forum Holland Hardcore in July was a small delegation from the NVB present. The demonstration was against the criminal prosecution of right-wing extremist and discriminatory activities. More surprising is the participation of a number of prominent NVB 'ers to the recent NVU demonstration in Zwolle. This while the NCE and the NVB itself several times over each afternoon and expressed very negative. Moreover NVU chairman Constant wrote (the dead nothing but good) Kusters extensive gossip- and scheldstuk about Gerard de Wit after his death.
For now, the NVB unlikely to break any pots, but they are not completely gone, though they are still a small player on the extreme right field.
