Blood & Honour Nederland

The international organization of Nazi skinheads “Blood & Honour” (B&H) In the Netherlands, a virtually unknown organization. That's not for nothing. Unlike in many other countries, is B&H here never until recently emerged from the paint. In addition, the efforts to achieve a Dutch B&H branch out always found in the semi-underground place. Lately, however, there are more successful attempts have been made to Blood & Honour to gain ground. Indeed, there are even two organizations that name active in the Netherlands. History
Om Blood & Honour to post is a necessary step back in time. In the late seventies was in England the music flow Punk broken, associated with youth culture. As part of the youth culture was also seen a resurgence of Skinhead Style. In this latest development leap the extreme right movement (especially the National Front) in England with success in. Skinhead Bands were chartered for the dissemination of extreme right ideology among youth under the title “Rock Against Communism” (RAC). (#1)
This musical activities proved successful and resulted in a visible growth of the extreme right-wing skinheads within ranks. Besides That, and that was at least as important, these bands and concerts also spent a lot of money within. What happened next is predictable: was tampered with this money, a quarrel arose, and then the whole thing collapsed apart: the National Front and the musical branch went into 1986 apart.
Meanwhile, the skinhead band Skrewdriver was – met als frontman Ian Stuart Donaldson – become the face of the RAC flow. After the break with the National Front founded in Donaldson 1987 a new organization, “Blood & Honour”.

Ian Stuart Donaldson

Blood & Honour had the same goals as the RAC flow before: spread of Nazi ideology, recruiting new forces and generate money for the movement. After the previous experience chose the new organization is sure to not bind a party, but to form an independent network that could support parties or organizations with the same ideology. In the years that were then in many countries Blood & Honour divisions created, that more or less functioned in an international context. The core of the activities concerned music: to produce, distribution and programming of extreme right-wing bands. This changed with the advent of Combat 18.
In 1992 arose from the Blood & Honour network a new organization: Combat 18 (#2). Combat 18 was set up to take violent action against (political) opponents and migrants. This initiative derailed quickly into outright terror with great impact on both organizations. Especially when the violent means were used not only for external enemies, but also for the resolution of internal arguments. This happened not only in England. The Danish Combat 18 section was seriously compromised, after letter bombs sent out to other right-wing extremists with whom there was a conflict. The international context of B&H en Combat 18 made all these activities internationally for negative consequences: infighting and implosion. In the late nineties there was something of an international B&H-network from the ground. These and other developments have contributed to the magnitude of Blood & Honour has been anything but stable over the years. In addition, the several countries divisions of character and divisions that make all sorts of different developments separately. A development that applies to most countries divisions, as for the international network as a whole, The debate between the traditional branch and Combat 18 branch. In short this discussion down to is that one branch, of “tradition portion”, finds that in the Blood & Honour network music must be central. RAC music is the common denominator for meetings, festivals and concerts, but also for mobilization, recruitment and financing for a political purpose.(#3) The other branch, Combat 18-tak, represents the political center and find the music of secondary importance. What not to say that music plays no role. On The Contrary, this branch also see the big (financial) importance of music in. (#4) For the latter branch is also especially violent and (semi)terrorist image of essential. In addition, the hatred of the Combat 18 branch against the other branch also an important binding factor. The other branch is continuously (and not always unjustified) as a gang alcoholic, apolitical fools written off. Nederland
In the Netherlands, parallel to the international developments, a private Dutch Blood & Honour branch arise, following international developments in part, but partly also not.

In the eighties there was in the Netherlands for a scene of extreme right-wing skinheads. However, with a focus on the Netherlands. As far as they were politically active they sought especially joining Dutch parties and organizations. This changed at the beginning of the nineties. The success of skinhead bands like Skrewdriver in England was reflected in the Dutch skinheads and there were contacts with Blood & Honour in Engeland.(#5). This led to the creation of a Dutch Blood & Honour Division with the name “Keep Contacts”. An important difference with the parent organization, however, was that Hou Kontakt everything did to let himself not as extreme right label. Outwardly, the organization was presented as an organization for Dutch skinheads, where all political persuasions were welcome. In practice, however, it was a private gathering place for Nazi skinheads. Contact love was like organization initially successful. In various parts of the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Zeeland Flanders) arose active cores. Own magazine there several times a year was issued and there were meetings and concerts organized regularly. Especially a concert in Hook of Holland with the oerbands of Blood & Honour “No Remorse”, was a great success for Dutch standards. Not long afterwards visited Ian Stuart Donaldson representation Hou Kontakt in Netherlands. (#6) With the success of the company also took the pressure, what inzette the demise. On the one hand this was due to political, social and judicial obstruction. So could a second big concert, organized by Hou Contact, not continue. Under pressure from anti-fascist actions and policing the concert was canceled at the last minute. Several skinheads who flocked to the concert, were arrested.
On the other hand, the incidence of the rank responsible for slow collapse of the organization. Internally, there was concern about the moderate presentation, mainly by founder and frontman Martin of the grind, even as a traitor was identified in a pamphlet.

Martin van de Grind Blood & Honour

In addition, the far-right skinheads had a number of places in the Netherlands where they could meet. Through a series of fights and other miseries they touched one lost after another place, which meetings were increasingly difficult. These aspects undermined the organization. Quite hard when Martin went to the Grind left the organization (under social pressure and because of the rapid increase in the extent of his criminal record). Contact love still lived on for some time as a marginal semi-underground club, but solved the mid-nineties into nothingness. Besides all the problems, such as those outlined above, also occurs through the rapid rise of the gabber culture, as youth culture turned out to be a lot of competition for the skinheads.

In the late nineties, there was talk of a revival of the skinhead culture in the Netherlands. Especially in Brabant and Limburg had some new skinhead bands luck. Unlike the Save Contact generation, However, this was mostly to skinheads who had no explicit political ideas held after. Additionally skinheads locks, who had extreme right-wing views, joined existing parties in that field. The need for a new political skinhead organization proved not directly present.
A group that came out of this new generation skinhead was the "Mining Region East Skins", a gang of skinheads in the Eastern Coalfield (Heerlen-Kerkrade). Central to this group are Notermans Patrick and his then girlfriend.

Patrick Notermans

In 2001 the coalfield East Skins stood at the cradle of a new effort to Blood & Honour Netherlands to gain ground. Initially this seemed to lead to nothing. A year later joined a group of disgruntled NCE members from the party and joined the B&H-network. Key Figures of this former NCE group were René van Zon and Niels Ritmeester. Some time later joined the resident German neo Michael Krick hereby in Netherlands.

What happened next, is somewhat unclear. It seems that there has been a short time organization in the Netherlands where in Combat 18 oriented branch and more on B&H Traditional oriented branch worked. The look on this period is clouded by a number of other rapid developments:
– B&H Traditional branch grows between 2003 en 2005 sustained. This has to do with one hand that some older skinheads, including Martin of the grind, again became active and put the new organization on legs. There was also seen good growth of young supporters.
– The new young supporters, Initially the Traditional branch, but later the Combat 18 branch, mainly came from the circuit of cronies and called Lonsdale youth. There is a development was visible, where groups of young ravers themselves were interested in the skinhead music and culture. Groups have transformed themselves into a part “real” For example, skinhead and joined one of the B&H-branches.
– The growth of the Traditional branch took place very decentralized. In a number of places in the Netherlands arose extreme right (gabber)groups of friends who joined Blood & Honour. There were also all sorts of individuals and groups who used the name and insignia of Blood & Honour, but that is doubtful whether they ever really had anything to do with the organization of. Eventually come out of this period some foggy forth two organizations, probably the product of a rupture. On the one hand, that Blood & Honour / RVF, on the other hand Blood & Honour Nederland. Blood & Honour / Combat 18 RVF houses the Dutch branch of Blood & Honour. Besides the former NVUers is also the former Action Front of National Socialists Eite Homan now part of this organization. Recently this branch expanded yet because they former cronies of the Soetermeer Skinhead Front to himself managed to tie. Key Figures of the Combat 18 branch are currently Eite Homan, Michael Krick, Willy Timmer, Dave Blom one Niels RITMEESTER.

This group is especially notable for its outspoken and violent anti-Semitic ideology. As is given from this group support for Saddam Hussein (because of his struggle against Israel) and Mohammed Bouyeri (the murderer of Van Gogh, because of his anti-Semitic ideology). In addition, support is granted to Kay Diesner, a German neo-Nazi who tried to murder a prominent communist and fleeing a police officer shot dead. Although this group of party politics is independently lately supported all demonstrations of NCE. This branch is internationally focused on neo-Nazi structures in Germany.

The other B&H-branch developed into “Blood & Honour Nederland”. Traditional characterize this as branch is much more decentralized than the RVF organized group and regarded more as a network, then as a group with a clear smoelwerk. In various regions (Groningen, North Holland North, West Brabant, Amersfoort region) are sections of this organization visible. All these groups perform more or less a function in the network, but the functions vary by region and by shifting the time quite often. Striking in this branch is the collaboration between the old stalwarts and juveniles. An important old faithful is of course Martin of the grind, but he is not the only. The young growth has largely come from the world of ravers. Also this branch is independent party, but there is often talk of cooperation with the National Alliance. Internationally, this branch focuses on Blood & Honour Flanders, which closely working together. Recently organized both B&H branches activity on the same day, which gave a clear picture of nature and extent. RVF-branch fell by about twenty people participated in a demonstration in Nijmegen NCE. The theme of the demonstration was “against welfare cuts”. The purpose of the demonstration was to generate media attention for NCE, the day before the elections. Neither themes lend themselves much for the RVF supporters, who then walked behind its own banner Blood & Honour logo and Nazi symbolism.
Simultaneously organized “Blood & Honour Nederland” a wreath for former SS men in a war cemetery in the Limburg Ysselsteyn. Under pressure from an AFA action this wreath was banned. In collaboration with B&H Flanders then an alternative wreath organized in Lommel, Belgium. This action was, naturally, followed by a concert of some Nazi bands. Remarkable was the rise in this action. According to their own statements, there were about two hundred participants of the ceremony. About half of this number consisted of Dutch.

(#1) – The name “Rock Against Communism” was an invention of the far-right National Front in response to the very popular “Rock Against Racism”-festivals that took place in England in that period.

(#2) - The number 18 in Combat 18 refers to the first and eighth letter of the alphabet: AH, the initials of Adolf Hitler.

(#3) – This branch is operated under various names. Self network used alongside “Blood & Honour” names as “Blood & Honour Traditional” of “Blood & Honour Independent”. Thus they refer to the original objectives of Blood & Honour. In France, Belgium and the Netherlands is also the name Blood & Honour Midgard gebruikt, often by opponents corrupted into “Shitgard”.

(#4) – This branch place himself directly in the tradition of Combat 18 and its ideological successor, de Racial Volunteer Force (RVF). They are used in addition “Blood & Honour” all sorts of names with compositions between B&H, Combat 18 RVF in.

(#5) – This is not quite right. Ian Stuart Donaldson kwam in 1984 once already to Netherlands, then as a member of the National Front. He participated in an action of the Dutch Youth Front Netherlands (JFN) for release of Rudolf Hess.

(#6) – This visit was in August in Utrecht 1992. One year later, op 24 september 1993, Donaldson died in a car accident. Since then he is considered icon and unrivaled hero of the international Nazi skinheads.
