A group of 120 people protests in the evening Hoogvliet (Rotterdam) against the arrival of twelve status holders. It is quiet and they carry signs that say ‘that they don't want to work who come here just to hold up their hands'. The protesters are angry about the way the municipality Rotterdam interacts with them.
This Wednesday evening there is a meeting for residents of the district Hoogvliet in Rotterdam about the housing of twelve refugees in an old municipal yard. Local residents fear that the refugees have bad intentions. Five hundred signatures against the arrival of refugees have been given to the Leefbaar Rotterdam wethouder Ronald Schneider. After this, the atmosphere becomes so grim that this councilor has to flee from an angry crowd. The meeting lasts exactly fifteen minutes. It goes “completely out of control” and the councilor must leave the hall under police supervision. Local residents say they see no difference between a large AZC and the twelve status holders. Outside, the councilor is being chased and angry local residents are banging on the windows of his car and the crowd threatens to lock him in.. The driver drives off just as well and hits the leg of a woman who is trying to calm things down.
