The Flemish nationalist Yzerbedevaart Diksmuide (Belgium) This year has expired quietly. In recent years there is often talk of fuss and hassle, but this time it was not a trace.
Zaterdag
The evening before the actual pilgrimage (Saturday 28 augustus) is traditionally a celebration for all kinds of far-right figures from across Europe. The café “The Court of Flanders” Outpost organizes an annual European Camaraderie Evening. Over the past two years that found no passage, but this year the long trunk tables were dug again. About three hundred attendees drunk, sang songs and listened to various performances. Besides the Flemish fascist student union NSV, were especially about thirty members present Voorpost Netherlands who were in the hallway. Among them were some members of the Dutch Student Association (SSR) led by Michel Hubert and important for Posters and Tim Mudde, Ton Steemers and Robert Schaap.
The traditional skinhead meeting was entirely in the water. There were only a handful of skins available, who could do nothing but drown their sorrows to the low turnout.
The Gendarmerie held, also according to tradition, several skinheads due to illegal possession of weapons or wearing banned symbols. Foreign skins were immediately put on the border, but there were no Dutch at. The only identified Dutchman from this angle Constant Kusters.
Sunday
The day of the pilgrimage itself (Sunday 29 augustus) Dixmude was flooded with thousands of pilgrims. The Court of Flanders had been converted into an information fair of Outpost, where several far-right groups had scolded. Except Voorpost were no Dutch organizations represented here.
Besides the traditional pilgrims were there this day strikingly skinheads come to Diksmuide. From the Netherlands and Belgium were the particularly people from the corner of the ANS and the Odal Action Committee (waaronder prominent than Eite Homan, Ed Polman, Johan van Enk, Chris Berteryan).
Despite several arrests also took place this day, very quiet. In 1996 en 1997 the meeting was still disturbed by the actions of radical nationalists (especially supporters of the Vlaams Blok). They disrupted in 1996 the meeting by flocking to whistle and to storm the stage and in 1997 the whole pilgrimage was boycotted by the radicals.
On the big meeting played the president of the Pilgrimage Committee traditional Flemish nationalist items, in particular the requirement for amnesty for Flemish collaborators from the Second World War, the radicals are music to the ears sounded. The rise has been clear lead among the actions of the past years and again kept stabbing around fifteen thousand.
