The Netherlands Institute for Human Rights rules on a complaint from an anti-racist, pro-Palestinian activist who februari 2017 by the trade union FNV in Utrecht has been rejected for a position, because of articles about her on the internet. In those articles by her opponents, she is associated with anti-Semitism, jihadism and Muslim extremism. She defends herself by stating that she only liked a number of jihadist accounts on the internet, to be able to follow them. Not because she agrees. She feels discriminated against on the grounds of political affiliation. The Institute states that the rejection because of the articles about her is too far removed from her political affiliation. Therefore, no prohibited discrimination has been made on the basis of political affiliation.
