In the run-up to parliamentary elections 2002 Pim Fortuyn stepped down as leader of Liveable Netherlands and founded the Pim Fortuyn List (LPF) in order to take part in the elections. Fortuyn was assassinated shortly before the elections. The LPF then pulled out a big win and became part of the government coalition. The party, however, was very unstable after the disappearance of Fortuyn and slowly fell apart. In 2007 The party was disbanded. The LPF profiled among other things against Islam and Muslim immigration more. But to characterize the party is not as extreme right.
