A ruling by the Human Rights Institute on a complaint by a German man with the disability Gilles de la Tourette who is complaining about a housing association from Bergen op Zoom. The place of residence of the German man is not mentioned. He had from 2014 occasional clashes with his neighbors. In May 2016 he is scolded twice by them. The housing association does hold talks with the neighbors, but does not pay attention to the discrimination aspect. The neighbors call him one ‘crazy‘ and state that he should not live there. They have said that to all Germans ‘sleeves‘ zijn. The Board is of the opinion that the housing association has investigated the discrimination complaint insufficiently carefully. As a result, she has made prohibited distinctions on the grounds of disability or chronic illness and on the grounds of race.
