In februari 1997 is the plate “Free to be chained” of the English punk band from Active Minds. On this record has a number “At war with satanists”. At first, the title suggests that it is a parody of the black metal circles known slogan 'At war with society. However, the explanation of the text provides more clarity. Active Minds says in it that Black Metal has a very aggressive look. This aggression is partly reflected in the lyrics of bands: these deal primarily with sadistic violence, hatred of humanity and Christianity. When the English media mid-nineties discover that members of the Death Metal band "Morbid Angel’ Fascists are Active Minds is not surprised: “What do you expect from bands who spread such nihilistic crap?”.
In addition to the content of the texts of many Black Metal bands, the stage act very important: dress parties and strong symbolism provide a demonic, aggressive and nihilistic appearance. There are also bands that these aggressive, nihilistic attitude bring in daily life in practice, and that, for example mixed with fascist politics. The result is that a new music area arises where fascists can recruit supporters for their party politics.
Murder and violence as status
It is in the Netherlands occurred several times that young people dig destroyed as an expression of their satanic faith. Op 25 May 1999 took place in Arnhem a lawsuit related to a group of young people in 1997 several graves had been destroyed in the area and moreover had tried to set fire to a Christian chapel. Also the group several times threw the windows of a church destroyed. At the trial, told one of the main culprits that he regrets his actions but also says that the violation of holy ground fits into his satanic faith.
Op 19 augustus 1993 arrested in Norway Kristian Vikernes on suspicion of murdering a left metallurgist and arson in various churches. During the trial he said that he convinced pagan (heiden) en nationaalsocialist is. The court finds him guilty of the murder of the metallurgist and three arsons. Kristian Vikernes shown a prison sentence 21 jaar. In prison he changes his name to Varg Vikernes. Varg means wolf.
Within the Black Metal scene he plays an important role in his one-man band Burzum. Vikernes to a computer in prison music. Burzum is a publicly accepted Black Metal band that is sold openly in all record stores, despite the obscure CD covers adorned with swastikas. Varg Vikernes was also one of the first Black Metal Types paganism alliance with Nazi ideology. He sees similarities in the fight against the Christian and Jewish religion and the ideology of National Socialism.
According to Vikernes he fights as pagan against Jews and Christians who have suppressed paganism in Europe. As a national socialist struggle against it “world domination of the Jews”. Commenting on the Holocaust shows clearly where he stands “The only thing I regret about the holocaust is that it is a lie”.
In Norway, Varg Vikernes has become the leader of the Heathen Front. This front combines national socialism with paganism and has branches in several countries, including the Netherlands and Flanders. Dutch Pagan Front is an extremely obscure club, that currently only on the Internet is active. It is remarkable that they had long their website on the domain of White Power World Wide. There were among others stickers with the text “We have more than enough of Judeo-Christian “charity” (and also of Islam)” offered.
Is more active in the 1997 established Flemish Pagan Front. This front has its own magazine Kvasir” and spreading outright Nazi propaganda. For example, the front page is adorned with the Nazi circles in common fourteen words: “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White children”.
Vikernes is not the only one from the Black Metal scene with a dead on his conscience. Op 29 april 1993 murdered the German Jarl Flagg Nidhoegg (pseudonym of Henry Möbus) along with two others, a fellow student. This boy was in his eyes to the left and made his Black Metal band Absurd ridiculous. Therefore, he was “sacrificed”. Five days after the murder Nidhoegg was arrested. At the time of the murder he was underage and therefore he is in 1994 but sentenced to eight years in prison, five of which he sits out there. Later Nidhoegg in various interviews on the violent murder back. He always says that he has had five years in prison for the murder of: seeing fear in someone's eyes at the time of the murder he calls a great experience.
Nidhoegg still drummer of the German Black Metal band Absurd. Absurd has become an almost mythical band in the Black Metal scene. Absurd combines, net als Burzum, paganism with national socialism. The band sees the rejection of Judaism and Christianity, the rejection of the “sheep mentality”, blindly following a belief. Absurd wants people themselves are strong in order to take the path towards a totalitarian power. Absurd therefore proposes that national socialism in connection with Satanism and paganism is the ultimate way to grasp the totalitarian power. Absurd calls for boycott of products known to those made by Jews and Nidhoegg brings the Hitler salute at concerts.
Nidhoegg together with his brother Ronald charge of the Deutsche Heidnische Front, the German section of Varg Vikernes’ Pagan Front. This German department strives for a racially pure Greater Germany, which is based on the law of the jungle.
All these activities provided the necessary interest, including those from 
the angle of the German government. In oktober 1999 raids were done in forty locations in Germany, whereby large quantities of material were found neo. Nidhoegg has been hiding and announced in exile to live.
Berzerker Records
The record label called Absurd Darker than Black Records. This label releases albums of bands who all come from the pagan / Nazi angle, such as Kristallnacht from France and Thor's Hammer from Poland. These bands will firmly times against Jews and immigrants. Kristallnacht as saying in an interview that they are followers of an Aryan war against Jews, Communists, homosexuals, foreigners and all that they feel they do not belong in France. The band members say supporter of Nietsches Übermensch theory. 
The Dutch distributors of Darker than Black Records in the Netherlands Daimonion from Schiedam and Berzerker Records from Oegstgeest. Berzerker Records Jasper Velzel take responsibility themselves for the most extremist CDs of Darker than Black Records. Darker than Black Records is itself in turn distributor of Berzerker Records, but also of the fascist American label Dungeons of Darkness. This label along on a compilation CD released by National Socialist Black Metal bands. Bij de eerste 88 copies the customer will receive a bag of sand that comes from Auschwitz.
Back to Netherlands. Berzerker Records from Oegstgeest lately very active in the extreme right-wing music scene. The first CD that Berzerker Records released on the market was a CD of Polish Black Metal band Lord of Evil. This band mixes paganism with national socialism. They describe their music as “Aryan War Black Metal, only for whites”. Lord of Evil has now changed its name to its ideology: they call themselves now “White Aryan Resistance, Heil Hitler” (WAR 88). 
Second (decorated with runes) CD will be released on Berzerker Records is the one-man band Hague Welter. Welter describes in an interview Adolf Hitler “A very powerful and strong caracter. Also a master in giving speeches, also thanks to Goebles”. According Welter tribes on the CD depicted runes ancient Scandinavia and store them out of contemporary fascism. Also on several other occasions Welter dissociates himself fiercely right-wing extremist tendencies within the Black Metal World. The release of his CD on the combined Berzerker / Darker Than Black label also gives the necessary surprise. Not least by radical groups within the Black Metal, now make life difficult for those Welter. The third CD that was going to release Berzerker Records was the Russian band ROD. On a flyer Berzerker Records state that ROD “Totalit-aryan Heathen Metal” plays and that they adhere to the national socialist ideology. In an article in an extremist Black Metal sheet ROD however blackened like a band that works with Jewish organizations. Also play two “yellow narrow-minded Khazakhs” in de band. ROD, according to the author of this article are not a national socialist band but a cheap commercial band that nothing has to do with National Socialism. Whether this was the reason for Berzerker Records to not to release the CD is unclear. Instead of ROD Berzerker brings a CD Heretic on the market. Heretic is a Dutch Black Metal band from near Best. Singer of the band Thomas Bragt, also creator of a perverted satanic leaf “Satan’s Perversion ‘zine”. This magazine is full of pornographic, interviews with fascist bands and sick jokes. One of the victims of these jokes is Welter. A picture of him stuck on a photo of people in a concentration camp. Reads the caption: “In a series of Welter, the jewish punk loser”. The magazine also lists eight internet addresses, where information about Holocaust denial is found.
The fourth CD that Berzerker Records is going to release a CD of a Dutch Black Metal band called Holocaust. In an interview with the band members say his national socialist and paganism to hang. They call themselves “trendchrushing NS War Metal”. In the same magazine they declare that they have made contact with someone who has previously fought in the Waffen SS and was a member of the Hitler Youth. Here probably about Kees van Rijn. Holocaust has previously released a cassette titled “Holocaust Revival”. This cassette is also distributed by Berzerker Records. Besides a record label Berzerker Records is also a mail order where music of various fascist bands is offered for sale. An example is the Dutch band CD Landstorm. Landstorm is grouped around Ed Polman and Dave Blom, who both have a long history in CP'86, Action Front National Socialists (ANS) and NCE. Landstorm is geen Black Metal, but a pure Nazi chinstrap. The same applies to a different tire sold by Berzerker: Iron Youth from Greece.
Final Words
This article on the contacts between the Black Metal scene and fascist groups is far from complete. It is a subculture that is spreading all over the world. There are many different organizations, bands, leaves that focus specifically on Black Metal and Nazi groups within. We want to use this article highlight just a tip of the iceberg.
Who thinks it is merely tasteless stage acts, is wrong. Black Metal is a billion dollar industry and several bands penetrate occasionally until the baking sheets in the ordinary case. There are from the Black Metal scene several serious contacts with extreme right movements and organizations. Music is then used as a means to spread political propaganda.
How many fans have taken this extreme right messages is difficult to say. It would certainly not be the first time that the extreme right is trying to access via a subculture to the heads of young people. The trends outlined above show that there are also opportunities in the Netherlands.
