Nazis in occupied AmsterdamTen thousand Amsterdammers were during World War II member of the NSB. The Amsterdam Nazis is actually little known. What did it mean to wartime member of the party was in collusion with the occupiers? How did family members, friends and neighbors? How was the atmosphere within the movement? Many NSB members were convinced Nazis and participated in the persecution of Jews. On the streets they regularly clashed with their opponents. The NSB started to make early on their own initiative hunt for resistance fighters and left an estimated 1000 to the Eastern Front. That lent itself again in Amsterdam especially all kinds of propaganda hero worship gatherings. Based on personal stories, veel foto’s, police reports and diary both historians put this part of the history of Amsterdam firm.
