The mosque was also in the news for a Salafi takeover and alleged support for armed jihad. De PVVPeople ask whether the takeover of power by Salafist vanguards in more and more mosques is a threat to democracy and the rule of law. They also want to know whether the minister wants to have the mosque closed.

In Geleen demonstrate for- and opponents of Zwarte Piet at the entry of Sinterklaas. The pro-Zwarte Piet protest was organized by a man from Brunssum, who is not looking for a confrontation. On social media, someone threatens the anti-Zwarte Piet protesters with an automatic rifle.

Last night unknowns have a pig's head attached to the gate of the new site where a mosque Geleen will be moving around. The head is associated with a piece of iron wire to the gate. On site is found a second pig's head.

Today, there appears a picture on Facebook with a plakactie NVU-posters in Sittard-Geleen. They have the Nazi slogan “For Folk and Fatherland "and use the modern cry: "Stop the multicultural terror”.
