The mayor of Maassluis issues an emergency order, because of tensions between Moroccan-Dutch youth and native Dutch residents. There has been vandalism to houses, smashed windows, destruction of cars and the covering of fences with ISIS signs. The App of the neighborhood prevention team is used a lot during the weekend when Moroccan youths had thrown bricks through windows at three houses. There are 1200 messages posted and “the show was very racist” and people threatened violence. The next evening a group of eighty people is on the street under the banner of the neighborhood watch. They go to the Moroccan community center where men are playing cards. It is ‘cancer carokkanen‘ shouted and pushing and pulling back and forth. A Moroccan Dutchman punches someone, but the police know how to calm things down. After this, two local broadcasters receive threatening e-mails because of their reports about the unrest Maassluis. A window of a car of one of the broadcasters has also been smashed. In an e-mail they are called racists.
