A ruling by the National Ombudsman about a complaint from a dark-skinned pilot who entered 2015 was checked three times by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee on Rotterdam/Den Haag Airport in Rotterdam, while the white passengers were not checked. He also traveled in the Schengen area where free movement of persons applies. He was checked in maart, May en juni 2015 and felt discriminated against. The Ombudsman says that the Marechaussee has appearances against him and has insufficiently guaranteed the right to prohibit discrimination against the pilot in this case. The Ombudsman therefore considers the complaint to be well-founded.
